A rare, Art Deco Sterling silver ‘rotating’ cigarette box by Asprey & Co. dated for London 1929.

Having an engine-turned body and large finial, with quartered rotating covers where vestas / matches are stored, along with the emery papers (in two sections) for striking them on.

Turning the finial, the four compartment doors swivel outwards, revealing cedar-lined compartments to store cigarettes.

The body and finial heavily engine-turned and set on a swept polished foot with beaded detailing. Hallmarked Asprey & Co., London, 1929 and having patent design numbers for the two component sections.

Of substantial and imposing proportions. A truly magnificent piece.
